Wishful Thinking?

What do you sit around and think about? Do you sit around wishing you were somebody else or have somebody else’s life? Do you sit around telling yourself how poor you are? Do you sit around constantly feeling sorry for yourself about basically nothing? Do you sit around wishing you had a house like your neighbors because your house is in shambles?

Wishing or thinking about having, doing, or being someone else or obtaining their lifestyle is called Covetousness! It is lusting or desiring after what they have ~ and I bet you thought lust was just a sexual thing. Nope the bible says anytime you want what someone else has is coveting (lusting). Here is a scripture to confirm what I am saying! It's the Tenth Commandment!

You must not covet your neighbor’s house. You must not covet your neighbor’s wife, male or female servant, ox or donkey, or anything else that belongs to your neighbor.” Exodus 20:7 NLT

What did you say? I know that is the question you are asking. Well there is also a scripture in the bible that tells us to mind our own business! Hmm! This refers to taking care of your own affairs in your household.
Indeed, we hear that some among you are disorderly [that they are passing their lives in idleness, neglectful of duty], being busy with other people’s affairs instead of their own and doing no work. Now we charge and exhort such persons [as ministers in Him exhorting those] in the Lord Jesus Christ (the Messiah) that they work in quietness and earn their own food and other necessities. And as for you, brethren, do not become weary or lose heart in doing right [but continue in well-doing without weakening]. II Thessalonians 3:11-13 AMP.
If we are instructing our children of their household responsibilities, keeping the house clean, making sure the meals of the household are being prepared, even taking time to teach them the Word, you are not idle enough to consider or observe what your neighbor is doing. Even if it crosses your mind to covet, cast it down immediately and be happy for those who have the things you wish you had. God will bless you in time and when he knows you are able to receive his blessings! And when you do, receive them with Thanksgiving!

There are those who curse their father and mother and feel themselves faultless despite their many sins. They are proud beyond description, arrogant, disdainful. They devour the poor with teeth as sharp as knives! There are two things never satisfied, like a leech forever craving more: no, three things! no, four! Hell, the barren womb, a barren desert, fire. Proverbs 30:11-16 TLB

Can I "Love" You This Much?

Negative words tear people down and exposes them.  "Every prudent man deals with knowledge, but a [self-confident] fool exposes and flaunts his folly." (Proverbs 13:16 AMPC)  (Folly biblical definition: 2a. : criminally or tragically foolish actions or conduct. b. obsolete : evil, wickedness especially : lewd behavior.) Confronting someone is different than badgering someone! Badgering means to repeatedly pester.  "By pride and insolence comes only contention, but with well-advised is skillful and Godly Wisdom." (Proverbs 13:10 AMPC)  When we lovingly and patiently correct others the response will be peaceful, loving and accepting also; however, words spoken in anger and with the intention to hurt, comes from a malicious and wicked heart. Hurtful words repeatedly play over in a person's mind (like a broken record) of how they don't measure up to the World's standards; therefore putting that person in the forefront of a sure target for Sat...

God is in "Control"!

The students who marched boldly, stepped out and reached out to gain the attention of our leaders. It is a sad situation and the act of violence that truly needs to cease! As I briefly listened, the stories were not just with our schools, but in our communities, our homes, and our jobs. We are in harms way every where we go. It's not the guns, or is it poverty, wealth or the situation our lives have turned to; it's deeper than that! It comes back to the fear, the anger, and the hate that is warring in our spirit and soul to ignite the violence and use weapons that destroy and kill.  Picture Courtesy of my nephew Dere While listening to the protestors, I heard anger, fear, and exhaustion in their voices also; because they too want change that moves all of us to a state of "Peace" and "Love"!  Not so long ago, we heard, "Black lives matter"; and now it's back to addressing the numerous and continuous shootings in the schools.  The struggl...

It's About Time!

You are given $100; however, you cannot keep it. You have to give it away to a charity or a person. Who would you give it to and why?  This is a question that the students I was substituting for was given to journal. Almost all of the students argued that $100 was not enough money to give to anybody. "Hmmmm", I said. You can do quite a bit with $100  - - - - - -  Our Sunday School class did it with pennies! "How", the students asked. All of the Sunday school classes were informed that it doesn't take much to give to others and if they would begin to bring in pennies, we would be able to give back to those in need. The first year, they gathered enough pennies to provide a Turkey dinner and the roaster to cook it in for a family of five. In addition to providing clothing for a child at Christmas. Each year the giving of pennies grew; whereas, the giving to others in the community grew as well. So if they can do it with pennies, you can do it with $100. Wh...
