Blessings Abound!

I can dress in high fashion clothes, shoes, and accessories – believe it or not, any woman who intentionally dresses up grabs the attention of numerous people because of their appearance! Men lust over her, woman want to be her; in addition to wanting her clothing, money, and lifestyle!

In our minds, we think that if we have money, we have everything we need; including happiness! Yes, constant attention on you does elevate your ego! We begin to think more highly of ourselves than we ought to (Romans 12:3); and become arrogant! If you read the bible, you will read several stories of people God blessed with wealth, and they deserted God because they felt they did not need Him anymore!

Interior reconstruction of King's Solomon's Temple

King Solomon was the richest man ever to live and scripture tells us that there will never be another one again! (II Chronicles 1:11)  In Solomon’s glory he had walls, floors, and accessories made of gold and expensive metal! People came from all over the world to view his wealth and wisdom; and left mesmerized by all of it! However, he too, became careless and enamored with himself, more than his adoration to God who gave him the wealth! (Read I & II Kings)

There is nothing wrong with looking, feeling, and being nice, but success does not depend on how much money, nice clothes, and houses you have! Think about it; many who have these things in this world are not debt free, worry free, or at peace! Are they giving to others from the heart, do they daily think about how they can give back because God has blessed them, or are they investing wisely when their body and prestige grows old? If you want to know, look up those who are no longer in the public eye and see how they are faring?

When you are blessed by God with things, you are debt free, worry free, and at peace!

It’s a journey that will have obstacles along the way, but a journey worth taking! There is nothing God does to us, for us, and within us that does not reap a harvest of overflowing blessings ~ to get there, for those who are willing, will reap the rewards and benefits that come from building a relationship with God; and not just things! If you had a friend who only wanted you because of what you can give them, you would become weary of this person; and eventually severe the friendship! This is how so many people view God; they want things that are only pleasing and beneficial to them so they can look good in the eyes of people!

America, if you haven’t noticed, people disappoint, are backstabbers, lie on you, steal, belittle you, and more! Yet we still idolize wealthy stars, royalty, and others in the community (whether they are obedient to the law or not); whom we value only because they have a lifestyle we think is success!

The fascination of wealth and stars is not brand new! This magazine was published in 1958

Everything under the sun, moon and stars was created by God, so without Him, we are nothing

Solomon son of David took firm control of his kingdom, for the Lord his God was with him and made him very powerful.
Solomon called together all the leaders of Israel—the generals and captains of the army, the judges, and all the political and clan leaders. Then he led the entire assembly to the place of worship in Gibeon, for God’s Tabernacle was located there. (This was the Tabernacle that Moses, the Lord’s servant, had made in the wilderness.)
David had already moved the Ark of God from Kiriath-jearim to the tent he had prepared for it in Jerusalem. But the bronze altar made by Bezalel son of Uri and grandson of Hur was there at Gibeon in front of the Tabernacle of the Lord. So Solomon and the people gathered in front of it to consult the Lord. There in front of the Tabernacle, Solomon went up to the bronze altar in the Lord’s presence and sacrificed 1,000 burnt offerings on it.
That night God appeared to Solomon and said, “What do you want? Ask, and I will give it to you!”
Solomon replied to God, “You showed great and faithful love to David, my father, and now you have made me king in his place. Lord God, please continue to keep your promise to David my father, for you have made me king over a people as numerous as the dust of the earth!10 Give me the wisdom and knowledge to lead them properly, for who could possibly govern this great people of yours?”
11 God said to Solomon, “Because your greatest desire is to help your people, and you did not ask for wealth, riches, fame, or even the death of your enemies or a long life, but rather you asked for wisdom and knowledge to properly govern my people— 12 I will certainly give you the wisdom and knowledge you requested. But I will also give you wealth, riches, and fame such as no other king has had before you or will ever have in the future!” (II Chronicles 1:1-11 NLT)

Illusion?

When my son was going into the eighth grade, the school invited those who wanted to attend, to an open house. They served desserts and punch while the parents and students mingled with each other and the teachers. I was in the lobby talking with other parents that came by, when my son came up to me with two of his friends following him, and said, “Mom what would you do if I got a tattoo when I get older”? I didn’t even ponder the thought, nor did I become agitated at the question. My question to him was, “What do you want to do in life? Do you want to be a doctor, a lawyer ~ what professional would you like to become”?  He responded, “I don’t know yet. I haven’t thought about it”.  I asked him, “If you went to a doctor and he had several tattoos on his body, would you go to that doctor”? His response was "no", as if to say, "I never thought about it that way"! I responded, “Don’t do anything in life you can’t undo”. He asked in bewilderment, “What do

Sucker Punched!

In our world today we are separated and divided by Black and White. We all have our own stereotype of what it is to be African-American and what it is to be Caucasian. Society has portrayed being African American as a race afllicted with poverty, anger, deceit and ignorance. Whether the accusations are true or false, the news media focuses on people of African descent to keep the weak in mind and spirit believing its true – including African Americans! I do not own the rights to this photo  The past is not uncovered to keep you in bondage; but to keep you humble and rely on Jesus! If you read your bible faithfully, you have read the story of God telling Abram that his people will be slaves in Egypt for over 400 years. (Genesis 15:13) After their captivity, they were let go to possess the land promised to them. Although the journey to the Promised Land was eleven days, it took them forty years to arrive. (Deuteronomy 1:1-11) Why? There vision and God's vision did not coincide

We Walk in the Light!

My daughter communicated to me sometime in September that she was going to tell her six year old daughter that there is no such thing as Santa Claus. I thought, “ Let her be a child; then I said  (knowing Santa is not symbolic of Christmas) , “If that’s what you feel in your heart, do it! It’s your house and your daughter”. Dylan and her little brother! Well she told her that day and the conversation went like this: Tara (My daughter): Dylan, Mommy wants to tell you something! Dylan (My Granddaughter): What Mommy? Tara : I want to tell you that there is no such thing as Santa Clause. Mommy and Daddy buy your toys, wrap them up and put them under the tree Dylan : Oh, so you and Daddy are magic huh? Tara : (chuckles)! No, we are not magic Dylan; we work to pay for the gifts you receive. Dylan : I don’t believe you, because Santa goes to all of the kid’s houses and leaves gifts for everyone! Tara : Well Dylan, there is no Santa Clause and one day you wil
